• DAMS & POWER GENERATION

Our firm has over 25 years of experience in inspection, site investigation, analysis, design and construction phase services for dam projects. We experience in the design and construction of both new dams and expansion projects for existing dams. Our expertise covers the full range of engineering services, including site assessments, feasibility studies, preliminary designs, environmental-impact assessments, detailed engineering, project management and oversight. We have participated in the design and construction of large and medium-scale power plants. Also, our expertise includes; power plant rehabilitation, building and rehabilitation of hydraulic control structures, water supply and distribution and Dam safety studies. Others are; power transmission and distribution.





• BRIDGES & STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING

Kowarc's highly trained staff has inspected and load-rated highway and railroad bridges of every design and size to ensure public safety. Our structural engineering group provides services that extend from feasibility assessment and conceptual planning through final design and construction engineering. Our team is skilled in the rehabilitation and design of slab, steel girder, steel truss, prestressed, segmental and precast concrete bridges, culverts and complex structures. Our single-span, multi-span, long-span and structures carry roads, highways, ramps, railroads and pedestrians and traverse highways, railroads and navigable waterways. Computer based design and analysis programs for simple, continuous, curved and truss structures aid our engineering effort. Plans are generated using Micro Station and AutoCAD and our designs meet AASHTO and local authority design requirements.


• HOUSING

Kowarc provides comprehensive engineering services for the design and construction of land development projects including residential developments, corporate facilities, commercial and office projects, houses of worship, recreation facilities and educational institutions. In addition to design services, we have the expertise to guide client’s project smoothly through the regulatory approval process. As an example, we have provided the surveying and engineering services for the subdivision of a 343-acre property into 214 single family lots. Our services included aerial topographic, boundary and wetlands location surveys; floodplain delineation; groundwater testing; soil testing for individual sewage disposal systems; site engineering including roadways, grading, drainage, stormwater management, , traffic analysis, community impact analysis and environmental assessment; presenting the project to municipal and county planning boards; and obtaining State permits.


• ENERGY & POWER GENERATION

Power Generation - Since inception of Kowarc, dam studies and designs have been our strength. We have extended these abilities to design and construction of large Dam for hydro-electric power projects. In addition, we have successfully generated power for domestic consumption through gas-powered turbines.



• OIL & GAS

Oil Spill Remediation & Pipeline Construction - Oil spills pose a danger to public health, devastate natural resources and disrupt the economy of the area affected. Our firm has the experience and personnel to respond quickly on emergencies in order to alleviate the problem. In the past we have applied bioremediation techniques such as burning, containment and recoveries using booms and skimmers and have utilized other techniques available in the industry. In addition, we have the experience in designing and laying of oil pipelines in difficult and remote environment. We also, offer services in pipeline pigging and repairs.


• CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT & INSPECTION

Kowarc can provide the personnel and expertise necessary to manage the construction phase of projects. Our project managers, inspectors, and survey crews are experienced in many types of construction activity from site layout, utility coordination and erosion control to highway and bridge rehabilitation, lighting and signage projects. Our highly trained and experienced staff has inspected and load-rated highway and railroad bridges of every design and size to ensure public safety.


• SURVEYING

Kowarc provides surveying services including topographic surveys, property and title surveys, right-of-way surveys and construction stakeout for land development and infrastructure projects. We use the latest GPS and robotic equipment to assure high-order accuracy and cost-effective results. In addition, we are experienced in GIS data development, capture, analysis, training and implementation of GIS software and hardware in both the public and private sectors. We utilize GIS in our own engineering projects and can help clients implement GIS to meet their needs.


• GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING

Through our professionally qualified and experienced staff, we provide complete geotechnical engineering services including soil/rock engineering, foundation evaluations and design, subsurface explorations and soil testing.


• ROADWAY & TRAFFIC ENGINEERING

Kowarc has extensive highway engineering experience ranging from planning and feasibility studies to contract plans, specifications estimates. We provide environmental documents, permit applications, geometrics, signing and striping, drainage, lighting, utility coordination and right-of-way engineering. Also, we prepare traffic signal designs, signing and striping plans, traffic control plans and detours, and provides traffic operational analyses in terms of capacity and level of service; traffic calming. In addition, we provide traffic engineering consulting services to local municipalities, which involve the review of traffic impact studies and site plans prepared by a land developer's team of professionals.
